Al Sam

Al Sam offers a flexible live music experience that can fit anything from intimate background music to upbeat crowd engagement. Available as a solo act with guitar and vocals, or in duo/trio formats with drums, saxophone, bass, and/or additional vocals, the performance can be tailored to the room, audience, and type of event.

Whether playing a patio, bar, wedding, gala, private event, market, or community gathering, Al Sam reads the crowd and adjusts the set in real time. The show can move from relaxed acoustic music to singalong classics, French & Quebec favorites, reggae, pop, rock, country, folk, Italian and Latin songs.

Al Sam’s repertoire is wide, multilingual, and adaptable. Sets can include English and French classics, Canadian favorites, pop, rock, folk, reggae, country, soul, Latin-inspired music, and select Spanish and Italian songs. Depending on the event, the music can be shaped into a chill acoustic set, a lively bar/patio show, a danceable party set, or something more intimate and emotional.

As a French-Canadian performer, Al Sam can offer several hours of French repertoire, along with strong English material and shorter themed sets in Spanish, Italian, reggae, Canadian music, and more. His trio format leans toward reggae, pop, Latin, and indie rock, while solo and duo formats can be adapted for softer or more energetic settings.

The repertoire is always growing, and song requests from event organizers prior to the event can be learned when time allows.

Al Sam is an experienced Ottawa-Gatineau performer who has played bars, cafés, patios, galas, weddings, funerals, community events, markets, and street performances across multiple cities. He has worked as a solo artist, bandleader, duo performer, and collaborator with several musicians, including drummers, saxophonists, bassists, and vocalists.

His background as a regular bar performer and busker has made him highly adaptable. He has a lot of experience as an MC and event host as well. As needed, he can fill many roles, shift the energy, take the lead, support the event flow, and keep the music appropriate for the moment. He often takes song requests and enjoys connecting with the crowd.
