A captivating talent, Watta is a singer-songwriter.
Named after the water deity, Mami Wata, Watta has vocals to mirror the spirit. Her transic rich tone that calls for attention and pulls you in to experience whatever emotion is being delivered. Watta’s vocal style is a fusion of the soul in old school R&B and the sensual melodic rhythms of reggae and dancehall.
Being a first generation American with roots from Sierra Leone, West Africa, Watta’s musical influences have been worldly, to say the least. They range from Miriam Makeba to Sade, Bob Marley to Lauryn Hill, and Whitney Houston to Marsha Ambrosia, just to name a few. Like the land of diamonds, Watta adds a rich quality of sound and melody to the world of Neo-Soul, R&B and Reggae. Her delivery is smooth and wavelike, lyrics are catchy and she’s got a hot pen for hooks that stick.
Breaking into the industry as an independent artist, you can find Watta’s music on all digital platforms and experience her live in Los Angeles, CA and neighboring cities. With a sound that fits just about anywhere, Watta prides herself on being able to adapt to any style just as water takes the form of any vessel it occupies.
