The Stowes are a 3 piece Celtic folk band, who play a scintillating mix of foot-stomping traditional songs, raucous sea shanties and buoyant instrumental melodies that never fails to get feet tapping and people dancing.
Musical arrangements include piano accordion, bouzouki, 5 string banjo, guitar and stomp box as well as diverse harmonies to deliver a driving sound whilst retaining the traditional sound and feel of folk music.
The bands musical influences range from The Dubliners, The Pogues and the Fureys to Stan Rogers, Planxty and Bohola which, when combined with their unique style creates a thoughtful and engaging sound.
A passion for Cornwall and the sea that surrounds it has also been a driving force in shaping the bands sound and shines through prominently in every performance. A key element of The Stowes sound is the mixing of Celtic influences, creating engaging and unique sounding sets and melodies.
Having performed together for the last 5 years, and for many years before that in and around sessions, Tom, Calum and Kevin are not only experienced musicians but great friends who found a mutual love in the music that they play. Their biggest highlights to date are performing at the Maine Celtic Festival in America and releasing their debut studio album Tin and Copper Boys.
As well as performing as a trio, The Stowes are also an accomplished Ceilidh band. As the bands caller, Zoe is an experienced choreographer who can mix traditional and custom dances seamlessly to provide a fun and engaging atmosphere for dancers of any ability.
The Stowes are the perfect addition to any party and are available for festivals, weddings, ceilidhs, corporate events and pretty much any other excuse for a get together! Whatever the occasion, The Stowes can be relied upon to deliver a thorough and professional performance of foot-stomping Celtic music that will be sure to create a fun and lively atmosphere for your guests to engage and participate in!
