The Shakespeare Heptet are dedicated to setting Shakespeare's Sonnets to music – We play the sonnets as songs, each one performed in a musical style that suits the individual sonnet's contents, from the sweetest and warmest to the darkest and coldest. We have folk sonnets, blues sonnets, punk sonnets, tango, bossanova, rock, calypso, dance, classical. . .and more.
Why the sonnets? Because they're Shakespeare's hidden jewel: 154 poems about love.
Expect: –Excellent music (6 string, 12 string, electric guitars, percussion, double bass, keyboard. . .and more) –Stunning vocals with intricate harmonies (solo voice, two part harmonies, three part harmonies.) –Excellent words (William Shakespeare!)
The sonnets are full of passions. We aim to bring those passion to modern audiences using music.
