The Rabbitts are a folk duo composed of Odhran and Lucy, whose music is gentle, fun and riddled with natural imagery that masks darker subtexts.
As a couple the pair draw inspiration from their relationship, as well as old folk music and the new places they travel. The duo have recently finished touring and travelling around Canada following the release of their debut LP ‘Tall Pines & Tangled Vines’ and are re-establishing their roots in the UK. They have received support from BBC Introducing Norfolk with several track plays and a live session on November 29th.
They released their debut LP ‘Tall Pines & Tangled Vines’ on June 30th 2018. It was recorded at Orchid Studios in Vancouver, using predominately vintage recording gear which helped draw out the warmth in their performances. Previous to this, The Rabbitts released their debut EP 'Avocado Ginger Tree’ in May 2017, which has since had over 60,000 track downloads on Jamendo.
Their live performances consists of interplay between their two voices, guitar, mandolin, mandola and harmonica. When they are performing, they try to draw people in to their little world of love and nature.
Our repertoire includes around 18 original songs featuring guitar, mandolin, mandola, harmonica and dual vocals, and the following cover songs: 'No Ceiling' - Eddie Vedder 'White Rabbit' - Jefferson Airplane 'Change' - Blind Melon 'Castles Made of Sand' - Jimi Hendrix 'If I were a Carpenter' - Johnny and June 'Send me on my Way' - Rusted Root 'Anji' - Davey Graham 'Hollow Poplar'
“There is a homegrown, folk art charm to the duo’s sound, and it’s very much the effort of two people who have withdrawn into their own creative world. There is no outside universe, or at the very least none of any interest, which permeates this bubble, and consequently there’s a tremendously intimate, ritualistic quality as if the listener is a passive intruder.” - The Big Takeover
