The Bas Kisjes Big Band began its journey in 2013, initially directed by the composer, and arranger, as well as Venezuelan guitarist Ramón García Ramos performing funk, jazz and rock works (Cantaloupe Island, Watermelon Man, Panic Station, Addicted to Love, I Wish, Animals, Hey Joe, Sargeant Peppers, etc).
At first he began his rehearsals at the German School of Madrid where his director taught music classes in different elementary and secondary school courses. The Big Band is made up of amateur musicians from different professions and jobs who join their hobby and enthusiasm for music and among whom are a important number of Architects that has favored a grant from the College of Architects of Madrid in the form of an annual donation, with the commitment to act in some collegiate events (Christmas Concert, Architecture Week, etc).
With the passage of time the Big Band is incorporating musicians in its formation including the voices of Graziella Trovato and Gracia López and expanding its repertoire.
Recently the Big Band has come to be directed by the bassist, arranger and Dutch composer Bas Kisjes who is giving a turn of the repertoire to more jazz themes without forgetting the previous repertoire adding songs like Angel Eyes, Sing Sing Sing, Baby It's Cold Outside, Hay Burner, Blue Skies, The Bare Necessities, Is not Misbehavin ' , etc., along with their own compositions.
The Big Band has become a Non-Profit Cultural Association the proceeds of the proceedings to defray the salary of the director of the Band for his condition of professional musician, purchase of musical instruments and expenses of the orchestra (Rental of rehearsal room, instruments, material, etc.),
Among the different performances of the group can be cited the concerts of the Sala Galileo Galilei, Clamores, College of Architects, International Theater Festival in Almagro, Plaza Dalí in the proclamation of the parties of the Barrio de Salamanca, Concerts in Holland (Bewerwick and Wijk an Zee), German Church of Madrid, House of Culture of Torrejón, Mahón Jazz Festival (Menorca), Cultural Week of the Mombeltrán City Council (Ávila), Charity Concert for the Friends of the Heart Association at the Infanta Isabel Theater in Madrid, etc.
