Bare Wire, was established in late 1993. We deliberately did not gig until 1994 but made our first studio album to secure bookings. We established a successful monthly blues rock club upstairs at the Bell, Horndon on the Hill, featuring some high quality guest performers. We went on to gain regular gigs at venues such as Palace Theatre Westcliff, Towngate Theatre, Basildon, Truckworld, The Billet and the Hermit Club to name but a few. In 1996, we supported Denny Newman and Tony McPhee at the Juke Joint and made a second cd, “Blues on the Line” produced by Grant at Adelaide Studios. This includes some of our own numbers.
Bare Wire latest line up, The band was later joined by bassist Andy Farrell (Hamsters, Zoltans, Basies) and drummer Clive Graham, (Symbols, Geno Washington), who replaced existing members. We are sometimes joined by top class sax players, Gary Plumley and John Chapman. We performed at the usual venues and added regular spots at The Walnut Tree, Maidstone and The Bull, East Farleigh. In addition we played at Blues at the Fortune in its Saturday pm format.
The original line up re-formed to play a series of storming sets until 2009. In the summer of 2006 we played at Horndon Live to rapturous applause and were interviewed afterwards by Phoenix FM. 2007 – 15 were great years for the band with regular bookings at a great many venues around Southend. We love playing Blues, and Hard Rock numbers people can join in with and dance to. We play mostly covers also write and perform our own numbers.
And so on to 2016 with still more venues added such as The King’s Head and the Miley in Rochford + The Railway, Southend and The Plough, Westcliff. We feel we have arrived at a tight, settled line up with Pete Bailey and joe Parker being joined by the excellent Steve Reynolds on drums and star bass man Gareth Davies.
